The Operating Engineers Local 181 Apprenticeship and Training Program is a central component in assuring that Local 181 members are highly skilled and motivated. The program is jointly administered by Local 181, Indiana Construction Association, and Highway Contractors, Inc. (KY).
 

The training centers function to keep the journey-person Operating Engineer current with the latest construction technologies. Special training classes are a combination of classroom and hands-on instruction designed to provide the membership with state-of-the-art operating skills . Local 181 membership training ensures the signatory contractor of an employee with the skills and ability to bring in a project on time and on budget.

The Boston & Lynnville sites compiled over twenty nine thousand (29,000) hours in instruction/training of Local 181 Operators! Those hours exhibit the membership's commitment to acquire the skills to be the...Best Operating Engineer they can be.

Local 181 participates in the most sought after and demanding Crane certification on the planet, the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators AKA (CCO).

Local 181 maintains an Apprenticeship program geared to provide a novice Operator the necessary instruction to become a skilled Operating Engineer. Local 181's approach of combining classroom and hands on professional instruction as well as on the job training turns out journeyperson Operating Engineers with the ability to truly be a valuable component of Local 181's organization and the contractors he/she will serve.
